Let me tell you, when I got the text from Landon "Can you keep a secret?" I was relieved to say the least. A girl can only wait so long before she gets to be a bridesmaid you know, and after six years of waiting that text looked like a million dollars. 

 

But if you wanted to hear about the happy couple I guess I can give you the low down on how Landon popped the question.

After anticipating a proposal "anytime now", Landon and I both knew Jenna was ready for that sparkly rock to be on her finger. When Landon told me he planned to fly to Vancouver in the middle of Jenna's visit to see me, I immediately started planning. Of course, a brewery was the place, Landon had that idea set in stone from the get go. But having not visited Vancouver, Landon needed the advice of a "local" (myself), to find the perfect place. After much debate and search, Landon and I agreed that the Steel Toad Brewery was the place.

 

The day of the proposal I was highly distracted and anxious. (I can't even imagine how Landon must've felt). Attempting to keep my lips sealed was tough, but convincing Jenna to buy a new dress, let me do her hair and make up, and take a few pre-dinner photos was even more tricky. (Confession: I got a little emotional getting her cluelessly "engagement ready") Not to mention, trying to communicate entry times with Landon behind her back while doing my best to hold conversation and nod to her talk about a new Netflix documentary must've been entertaining from a far.

When the time came, I waited strategically for a moment that Jenna's nose was buried deep in the menu as I snuck to the "bathroom". Little did Jenna know, the love of her life was just feet away, and the moment she'd been dreaming about was just minutes away. I walked to the entry to meet Landon, grab the camera, and plan his route to the table.

I followed behind, camera at the ready, as my sister's future husband approached her. As he got on one knee and said those iconic words, "Will you marry me?" The tears were already flowing, from Jenna of course, and I'll admit myself as well. The entire restaurant applauded and cheered as the ring slid onto her finger. I've never seen two people so happy. 

 

The night ended with a dozen phone calls to family, food, some killer beer, and of course ice cream to celebrate! Those two smiles were utterly contagious that night, and there's not a doubt in my mind they'll be smiling together for the rest of their lives.
